Ardingly 5 - 2 Horley Athletico

A slow start again saw Ardingly concede a penalty which Toby saved – then a free kick which Horley scored from with a header…It was a tough 45 minutes with some good football and but we were second best in the physical side of the game. We gave the ball away too frequently and you cannot do that at any level of football without being punished.

The second half was different – a few changes – a few words to a couple of players and we attacked Horley across the pitch. It was an outstanding performance for 45 minutes of movement, passing and scoring from the team. There was some delightful passing especially in the Horley half. This was against a good team who were organised and attacked whenever they had the opportunity.

Our fitness also played a part - also our organisation and shape.

The introduction of Dale up front with Dan gave us the movement we needed – plus Andy and Joe started to get the ball and attack down the flanks. This gave us the width we needed to stretch Horley at the back. Goals followed all created with good passing and movement.
