First Team Match Report - Saturday 3rd November 2007
Sussex County FA - Junior Cup - Round 2
White Knight 3 - 1 Ardingly
by Neil Cooper
The game started at a relatively slow pace which didn't suit us. The team tried to play possession football but pitch conditions were poor and far better suited the oppositions more direct style of play. We went behind to a penalty mid way during the 1st half given given for a challenge by Ben after the shot on goal had been despatched. The team responded extremely well taking the game by the scruff of the neck and after a number of chances Dan scored a good equaliser. Unfortunately late on in the first half and after coming back into the game White Knight re-took the lead.
Confidence was high at half time that the game could be retrieved in the second half but in spite of everyone's full endeavour we were unable to match the quality shown after conceding in the first half and eventually White Knight scored a third. We went close on a number of occasions, Dale West hitting the bar but we were unable to convert the chances we had. For the last 20 minutes we reverted to a 3 - 5 - 2 formation.
Great commitment was shown by everybody but particularly with the pitch conditions it was never going to be our day.
