Ardingly 3 - 1 Cuckfield Wheatsheaf Utd

A goal in the second minute set us on our way. Dan Rushman cut in from the left and with quick feet caroused the ball across the goalie into the far corner of the net. After about 20 minutes a strong challenge left Matt Wright with an injured knee. He was substituted by Joe Slade.

Thereafter both sides had chances before Cuckfield equalised from a ball that bounced around the penalty area and wasn't cleared before falling nicely to one of their players. It has to be said that the lumpy pitch made skilful football difficult to play.

The game was then held up for 30 minutes . One of the Cuckfield players fell awkwardly and broke his collar bone, requiring paramedic attention.

15 minutes into the second half a shot by Jon Quick was handballed on the line. The offender was sent off and Dan Rushman cooly slotted in the penalty.

After a further 15 minutes a cross from Dan Rushman was met by Dave Williamson at the far post and score became 3-1 to Ardingly..

Vocal encouragement throughout, from the touchline by Dale West and friends, really helped the team.

Dan Rushman was again MoM even though his female admirers were absent.
