First Team Match Report

No wind and a freshly rolled pitch ( courtesy of Dale and his friends at Ardingly College) made for the opportunity to play sparkling football. Two evenly matched teams, with Ardingly missing the Gonzalian speed of Andy Majcher and the Danny understanding of Joe Slade, played out a 1-1 draw. Ashurstwood scored first about 10 minutes into the second half, a quick passing exchange freed their little winger who scored with a low shot under the diving body of Toby. With 30 minutes left Jon Quick replaced the ageless but tiring Chairman and then with 15 minutes left Dale replaced Mat Wiles. Soon after Dale drove in a corner and Ben was unable to avoid the ball and bulleted a header into the net - unstoppable! Toby was MoM for his surety of handling and loud vocal encouragement ( we couldn't hear anyone else)

Scores on the door by Andy with some help from his friends - Toby ( M0M) 8 , Ross 5 ( marked down for 2 dodgy throw-ins), Mark 6 ( solid defending and read the game well, Ben 6 ( strong in the air defending and attacking), Steve 6 ( played well against 2 very tricky right sided opponents) , Mike 7 strong down the right, Matt 6 ( put his body about and played a solid game - normally scores against Ashurstwood?), Dave 7 ( usual endeavour) , Matt W 6 ( skilful touches throughout), Dan 6( like Dave, usual endeavour and got a few shots away but rebounds off the goalie didn't fall to our feet) , Neil 5.5 ( inter linked play well but didn't last the course), Jon 6 ( plenty of running), Dale 7 ( classy corner )
